About
What AI does to
the people who build.
I lead engineering organizations through what AI does to their roles, growing the people who will run them instead of losing them. VP Engineering at Bosch; Head of the Bosch R&D Center in Lund, Sweden, until August 2026. German, living in Skåne.
Until August 2026 I led the Bosch R&D Center in Lund as VP Engineering: around 250 engineers across nine divisions, working on software, AI and connected products. From 2021 we brought AI into how that organization works, and it changed the work before it changed anything else.
Software engineers moved from writing code to directing AI agents and owning the outcome. Testers moved from writing test cases to testing at scale, once AI wrote the cases and people checked samples. Managers needed a different kind of training: hands-on, and grounded in how AI actually works.
The question that mattered most was who would grow into the new roles. We could not hire our way there, so we grew them. People with real interest and drive took on new work; one product owner ended up leading our AI-first initiative. Graduates who had written their AI theses worked side by side with our domain experts. AI was part of our vision, our targets and our town halls. Nobody was pushed through that door, and everybody knew it was there.
I didn't start my career in a boardroom. I started it writing code, building websites and engineering sound near Stuttgart, and I still build things myself. It is how I know what these changes feel like from the inside.
I've led engineering teams in Germany, spent eight years in Budapest, and now call Sweden home. Every move taught me the same thing: the best ideas rarely come from inside a single culture or a single way of thinking.
Scaling AI is not just a technical challenge. It's an organizational one: culture, structure, and engineering discipline matter as much as algorithms.
Career
- 2022 – 2026VP Engineering & Head of Bosch R&D Center LundLed a software and AI organization of around 250 people across nine Bosch divisions in Lund, Sweden. Brought AI into how the organization works: engineers directing AI agents, testing at scale, managers retrained for an AI era, and AI expertise grown from inside. The work shipped in edge AI for connected sensors, the connected platform behind Bosch eBike Systems, and mobility software.
- 2020 – 2022Director of Engineering & Head of Bosch R&D Center LundTook over the center in 2020 at around 130 people and broadened its portfolio from two Bosch divisions to nine, through a pandemic and in a country that was not yet home.
- 2016 – 2020Director Engineering, Automotive Steering Central & Eastern EuropeBuilt and led the engineering organization for automotive steering across sites in Hungary and Romania. Software, systems and validation under ISO 26262 and Automotive SPICE, with the site build-up and the local leadership team as the harder half of the job.
- 2010 – 2015Project and team leadership, Budapest and GermanyEight years in Hungary, moving from project leadership into line management. First international leadership role, and the one that taught the most about building a team from nothing.
- 2006 – 2009Quality and data management, Robert Bosch GmbH, ReutlingenJoined Bosch in 2006 after studying information technology and automation at Reutlingen University, with a term at Kettering University in Flint, Michigan.
